LAKE CONSERVATION

Lake Muskoday is a pristine man-made lake of 48 acres with 35.5 acres owned by the LMHA. Though it is not the largest or deepest lake in Sullivan County, it is one of the most loved by the generations of people who have experienced it. Lake Muskoday does not harbor any aquatic invasive species, and its residents work hard to prevent the introduction of invasive species into the lake. Combustion boat motors are prohibited.

As a shallow lake, with the deepest areas only ~8 feet, sunlight penetrates to the dirt bottom. This helps to create and support a diverse and abundant ecosystem which the lake’s residents are passionate about preserving. The LMHA owns approximately 200 acres surrounding the lake, protecting some of the watershed for the lake.

The LMHA Lake Conservation Committee's mission is to protect Lake Muskoday by maintaining a balanced, pristine ecosystem for this and future generations through science, education, community involvement, and monitoring. Here you will find information from the committee to help us live in harmony with all the residents of Lake Muskoday; human and non-human. You will also find actions and resources for residents to help us preserve the lake for future generations.
